Anywhere, along any coast:
Lewes Ferry from Cape May to Delaware

I could be anywhere,
right now:
along any coast,
along any shore
from any beach—
north, south,
midlantic.

Sandy inlets and birds—
An expanse of protected
beach,
seagulls flying low
searching
for shallow pools,
pines pinning from greenery,
a lighthouse, stilt homes,
I lean over
the ferry’s rail
and wonder
if the pod of dolphin
have found their way
to play in our wake
and wave at the humans.

I could be anywhere—
but today,
only here.
