An Abbandoned Villa, Tuscany

In certain lights, what it was
of old: vibrant walls earth colored,
orange-browns sweet
like sun-soaked earth,
colbalt shadows watching, aloof,
from jutting eaves,
and palms rustling
from borders of geometric lawns
in measured winds.
Flutters of transparent gowns
pause and watch
behind the filmy whiteness
that once threw wind shadows
on burnished parquet.
